2. Learning Objectives:

The course aims to study and learn the processes of research methodology and the stages of the research process, so that students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for critical evaluation and analysis of research papers, as well as for the design, preparation, writing, and presentation of small and medium-scale scientific works. By the end of the course, students are expected to apply the knowledge they gained during their studies to respond effectively to research problems that may arise during the completion of their postgraduate thesis and prepare for further studies to obtain a doctoral degree.

  • Research methodology
  • The research process
  • Phases and stages of scientific research
  • Data collection and analysis methods
  • Evaluation and use of bibliographic sources – Plagiarism issues
  • Development of scientific writing skills
  • Development of communication and presentation skills
  • Oral presentation
  • Evaluation and publication of scientific work
  • Workshop on presenting research papers

4. Teaching Method:

The course is taught through theory lectures (4 hours per week) and the completion of assignments (to examine the discussed concepts and techniques practically).

5. Student Assessment Method:

There is no final written exam. Instead, students are required to submit a specific number of assignments during the semester, as determined by the instructors, with the following distribution:

  • Assignment 1 (10%): Finding and evaluating sources on the internet
  • Assignment 2 (20%): Brief oral presentation of a scientific article
  • Semester scientific work (70%): Writing and presenting a literature review (topic selection by the end of the second week)

6. Equipment and Software Requirements:

The equipment and software required for student education are already provided by the Department of Computer Science.
